Early 2017, with the media full of pro-women and anti-Trump marches, I saw a protest sign that caught my eye. I saved it and posted it alongside a Roses Are Red joke without a second thought, and in the following hour it got 18,000 retweets.

It spread over one weekend to 80,000 retweets, 250,000 likes, and 11,000,000 impressions. Better than all of this, however, was the man pictured coming forward to speak with me. His name is Eugene Lovendusky, he’s a proud activist, and by the time he had seen what was going on I was already recieving death threats in response to the image. He shrugged it off. He asked me to tag him, to link to his charity of choice – NYC’s Gay Men’s Choir – and quickly launched a t shirt bearing his slogan that raised almost $700. It’s a ridiculous thing that I’m proud to have been a part of, and if you feel you missed out on a t shirt you can register your interest for a second non-profit printing by clicking the button below.
